ACTIVE LISTENING: SOME TIPS FOR LISTENING BETTER

Listening to others with a "mindful presence" is the most we have for developing STRONG, RESOURCEFUL, RESILIENT relationship. It helps us experience what the other person experiences and allows us to respond in a way that help them "feel seen".

Nowaday, Active listening is considered a KEY LEADERSHIP SKILL. It is divided into 3 techniques:

1. ENCOURAGING: to keep the person talking and convey interest. It is used to say agree or disagree positively with speaker.
I see... uh-huh.. that's iteresting...go on...

2. RESTATING: to show that you are listening, understanding and to help speaker grasp the facts. this type is used to restate the speaker basic ideas and put in your own words.
--> If i understand, your situation is...
--> i other word, your decision is...

3. REFLECTING: to show that you are listening, understanding and to let speaker know you understand how you understand how he/she feels. it is used to reflect the speaker's basic feelings and put in your own words.
--> This seem to be the key ideas you express...
--> If i understand you, you feel this way about this situation.
